DoctorVisitPrep helps patients prepare for doctor and specialist appointments — so every consultation counts.
Free guides. No sign-up required. Covering 55+ appointment types across Singapore, Australia, and the United States.
What Is DoctorVisitPrep?
DoctorVisitPrep is a free patient preparation resource. We publish practical, research-backed guides that help you walk into any doctor or specialist appointment with the right information — what to track beforehand, what documents and test results to bring, and the questions that make consultations more productive.
We are not a medical practice, a diagnostic service, or a substitute for professional healthcare advice. Every guide we publish is designed for preparation and education only. The clinical decisions belong to you and your doctor.
Why We Built This
Most patients arrive at doctor appointments underprepared — not because they do not care, but because no one told them what to bring or what to say. The result is wasted consultation time, repeat visits, and decisions made without the full picture.
A well-prepared patient changes that dynamic. When you arrive with a two-week blood glucose log, a complete medication list, and three specific questions written down, your doctor can spend the consultation time on diagnosis and planning — not on reconstructing your history from memory.
DoctorVisitPrep was built to close that gap. Every guide is written with one question in mind: what does a patient need to know and do before this appointment to make it as useful as possible?
What We Cover
Our library currently includes preparation guides for more than 55 specialist appointment types — from GP annual health checks to neurology, oncology, palliative care, and fertility consultations — as well as plain-language explanations of over 20 common medical test results including HbA1c, cholesterol panels, kidney function, thyroid tests, and spirometry.
Guides are organised into three sections:
- By Specialty — preparation guides for every type of appointment
- By Condition — guides organised around chronic and ongoing health conditions
- Metrics Explained — plain-language explanations of your test results
Who We Serve
Our guides are written for patients and caregivers in three regions:
- ASEAN — Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. We reference polyclinic and specialist referral pathways, Medisave and CDMP funding, and local health screening programmes such as Screen for Life.
- Australia and New Zealand — with Medicare rebate context, GP Management Plans, and the National Diabetes Services Scheme where relevant.
- United States and Canada — with insurance, Medicare, and PCP referral context.
About the Team
DoctorVisitPrep is run by Phil, a Singapore-based patient advocate and health information researcher. Phil is not a doctor or medical professional. All guides are researched against primary sources including the NHS, World Health Organization, Ministry of Health Singapore, Health Promotion Board, and specialist medical organisations such as the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Every piece of content on this site is reviewed for factual accuracy before publication. We follow a strict preparation-only editorial standard — we never offer diagnosis, treatment recommendations, or drug dosage advice.
Our Editorial Standard
Every guide on DoctorVisitPrep is written to help you prepare, not to replace your doctor. We follow these principles:
- Preparation framing only — what to do before your appointment, not what your results mean for your diagnosis
- Sources cited from established medical authorities (NHS, WHO, MOH SG, specialist colleges)
- Regional context included for ASEAN, Australia, and US patients
- No diagnostic statements, drug dosage recommendations, or instructions to change your treatment
- Full medical disclaimer on every page
Some guides include affiliate links to health-related products (such as blood pressure monitors, pill organisers, and supplements) available on Amazon and partner retailers. These are disclosed clearly on every post. Affiliate relationships never influence our editorial content.

Its one job is helping you walk into every appointment organised, informed, and ready to ask the right questions, using preparation guides researched from authoritative public health sources such as the NHS, the WHO, and national health bodies in Singapore, Australia, and the United States.
How Our Guides Are Made
Every guide follows the same documented process: researched against authoritative sources, drafted with AI assistance, reviewed by our editor before publication, and published with its Key Sources shown so you can verify everything. We are fully transparent about how our content is produced – read our Editorial Policy for the complete standard, including our AI transparency statement, sourcing rules, and corrections policy.
