Our Mission
DoctorVisitPrep exists to do one job well: help patients walk into every medical appointment organised, informed, and ready to ask the right questions. We publish free, plain-English preparation guides covering specialist appointments, medical test results, and chronic condition check-ups, tailored for readers in Singapore, Australia, and the United States.
Preparation, Not Medical Advice
This principle governs everything we publish. Our guides help you prepare for conversations with your doctor – what to track beforehand, what to bring, what questions to ask, and what the terminology on your lab report means. They never tell you what your diagnosis is, what treatment to take, or what decision to make. Those conversations belong with your qualified healthcare provider. Every guide carries a medical disclaimer, and our full Medical Disclaimer applies site-wide.
How Every Guide Is Created
Every guide on this site goes through the same five-step process:
- Topic selection. We choose topics based on what patients actually search for and struggle with – common appointments, confusing test results, and chronic conditions that require regular reviews.
- Research from authoritative sources. Each guide is researched against recognised public health authorities: the NHS (UK), the World Health Organization, national health bodies in Singapore, Australia, and the US, and established laboratory science references. We do not use forums, social media, or anecdote as sources of medical fact.
- Drafting with AI assistance. We are transparent about this: our guides are drafted with the assistance of AI language tools, working from the researched source material. AI helps us maintain consistent structure, plain language, and coverage across 100+ guides.
- Human review before publication. Every guide is reviewed by our founder before it is published – checked against its sources, checked for regional accuracy (Singapore, Australia, US health systems), and checked that it stays strictly within preparation territory and never crosses into medical advice.
- Publication with sources shown. Every guide ends with a “Key Sources” section linking to the authoritative references used, so you can verify anything we say and read deeper.
Our Sourcing Standards
- Primary sources are national and international public health authorities (NHS, WHO, national health promotion boards) and established laboratory science references.
- Reference ranges for test results are always presented as typical ranges with the reminder that individual labs vary – your own lab report and your own doctor take precedence over anything we publish.
- Regional content (subsidy schemes, referral pathways, emergency numbers) is verified against the relevant national scheme documentation.
AI Transparency Statement
DoctorVisitPrep uses AI language tools in drafting its content, under human editorial direction and review. We believe this is the honest way to state it. AI assistance is how a small, independent publisher can maintain consistent quality across a large library of guides – but responsibility for every published word rests with our human editor, not with the tools.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not diagnose, treat, or recommend medications or dosages.
- We do not provide personalised medical advice – no exceptions, including by email.
- We do not accept payment from pharmaceutical companies, clinics, or practitioners to recommend products or services in our guides.
- We do not collect or store any reader’s personal health information.
